My goal and focus is to teach the love of music; whether piano or voice. I attended Northern Michigan University as a music major. I graduated with an education degree from a religious college with an emphasis on music; piano, voice and bassoon. I traveled four years with a college choir and one year with a college quartet. My focus in my church was the music program; piano and cantatas. I have been teaching piano lessons for 23 years. It is my desire to introduce my students to all types of music: classical, jazz & blues, praise songs, Disney, rock, popular hits and more. Finding music the students will enjoy and identify with is an important part of the music experience. Recitals and playing for an audience is another important part of the lesson experience as well. I also place an emphasis on public speaking - teaching them to speak and present themselves well in front of an audience. Piano recitals are the highlight of the music calendar. To watch the students perform and enjoy the performance experience, and to come away with greater confidence and musical abilities is the highlight of my piano teaching experience.
